Influence on Culture

An Immediate change occurred right as the first Hispanics began entering through Miami's airports and harbours. Many short-term changes occurred such as the food, dance, and media. All three mentioned have changed Miami Dade's atmosphere into a business oriented city, and into a fun vacation spot comprising all things Hispanic.

Here are two delicious Hispanic meals. The video on the left deals with the famous Cuban sandwich; the right is an image of Colombia's most famous soup.

Domino park is another mini hub of Cuban culture as most first generation Cuban immigrants venture here to play dominoes while they socialize about the past. Domino Park known formally as Maximo Gomez Park, was established during the 1960s ,and today, is a central landmark of Miami and of Little Havana. The immersion of cultures that occurs in the streets of Miami-Dade and in the shops of Little Havana is readily seen through this little park.  People from all places journey here to play dominoes, drink classic Cuban coffee, or just to enjoy the Cuban scene.

Cafe Versaille is Miami's most prominent Cuban restaurant located in the heart of everything right in Little Havana. It has everything Cuban, from the food to the interior you feel as if you were in Cuba itself.

“Calle Ocho has evolved from its inception in 1928 as a venue for introducing non-Hispanic Miamians to their Cuban neighbours, to the city’s showcase celebration of its diverse Latino cultures.”

Calle Ocho is the center of Cuban culture as Cuban shops and restuarants are located all along it. From Azucar (ice cream) to Ball and Chain (Cuaban restaurant), Calle Ocho is the destination to go, to experience the diverse vibrant culture of the Cuban Americans
